So, you think this is a joke? Well, it is. Kind of. But we're pretty serious about our humour.

More and more, people of all colours are down with brown. They eat curry and stuff. They don't mind the smell as much as they used to. We believe this is progress for everyone.

For several different reasons, people aren't ignorant about brown people and their cultures anymore. They've seen 'Bend It Like Beckham' and 'East Is East'. They get it. Just like we got Chinese culture after watching 'The Joy Luck Club' or black culture after seeing 'I'm Gonna Git You Sucka.'

This means we can start making fun of ourselves more seriously. We as brown people need to be able to slag ourselves so that others can get closer.

Are we moving forward by taking these steps? Who knows, but we're not necessarily trying to. We like where we are. We just need to settle in a little.
